Haughley Parish Council is an elected body which reflects local views and functions as the first tier of local government.  

Parish councils are made up of unpaid councillors who are elected to serve for four years.   Parish councils are funded by levying a "precept" collected from within the council tax paid by the residents of the parish.    

Haughley Parish has eleven seats filled by Haughley residents who represent the community and have a statutory responsibility for certain aspects of the village.   

The Parish Council has a broad range of responsibilities that include:

• Street cleansing
• Statutory consultations on planning issues
