HAUGHLEY VISION 2050

Haughley Parish Council are currently working on forming a Vision Statement for the Parish. The vision will form the blue print for future planning, development and Infrastructure projects.  As a resident of Haughley, we would like to invite you to get involved in determining what the village
looks like in the future.

The Parish Council has decided to prepare a long-term vision as to what the village might look like in 2050 and beyond. Copies of the consultation document have been posted through every address in the in Parish during early September 2026. If you haven't received the document please contact the Parish council on clerk@haughleyparishcouncil.gov.uk.

Come along to view a display of the Vision Plans on Wednesday 9th September 6pm to 8pm and Saturday 12 September from 12pm to 2pm in the Maxwell Charnley Rooms, Haughley High street.

You may be aware that the Government has indicated that it wants an additional 1.5 million new
homes to be built in England during this Parliament. For Mid Suffolk it means increasing the rate of
house building by nearly 40% compared with past rates of growth.

To accommodate this increase, the District Council is preparing a new Local Plan that will identify
sites for development for at least the next 20 years. It is highly likely that Haughley will be selected as a site for further growth.

We cannot say “no” to growth but, together, we can try and make sure that future growth provides

benefits for the village and safeguards what we most value. Residents views are key to this process. So please get involved.
